In June 2011, 14 elementary and junior high school students from Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture, filed a lawsuit demanding their “right to study in a safe environment”. The Fukushima District Court dismissed the case on the same day, in December 2011. On the same day, the former Japanese Premier Noda declared an end to the most dangerous phase of the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant accident. The plaintiffs, representing the 14 children, filed a formal objection before the Sendai High Court. The Court concluded the hearing after conducting court hearings three times but has not yet decided the case.
Even the Japanese media hardly reported this trial. Two years have already passed after the accident, but more than 300,000 children still remain in Fukushima, living in highly contaminated areas. Please send your strong messages so as to help the Court make a responsible decision for the children of Japan.
Please support us and spread the word.
